The Tekken Card Tournament Game Guide

Below is a guide on how to play Tekken Card Tournament, read the guide to understand the basics, learn about special card effects, Tekken characters, and know how to build your deck.

Tekken Card Tournament Basics

To learn how to fight in Tekken Card Tournament, read the succeeding paragraphs. Each fighter has a deck of cards. Those cards represent attacks. During fights, the cards you control are below and your opponent’s cards are above. Each fighter may have up to five cards. Each turn, each fighter must choose between three actions: Focus, Strike, and Block.

Focus

Choosing Focus allows to draw a card at the end of each turn. If you choose Strike, you attack the opponent with all your cards. Block stops the two first cards of your opponent, if he strikes. If you choose Focus, your character focuses his mind and gains a card at the end of turn. But be careful. Focus leaves you vulnerable to the second action: Strike.

Strike

If you choose Strike, all your cards attack. (You need at least one card to do so.) Your opponent losses as much HP as the sum of all the cards’ damage. After the assault all the cards are discarded. If the defender chose Focus, he also lost a card: This is called “Focus Break”.

Block

The last action is the Block. The Block stops up to two attacking cards. You can see that the damage of the two first cards is reduced to zero. However, the following cards aren’t blocked and inflict normal damage. These are the basics of Tekken Card Tournament.

Handling Cards Effect

Learn about special cards in Tekken Tag Tournament by reading the next paragraph. Some cards have special effects. To read the card’s special effects, look first at the hourglass to know if the effect applies before or after the Assault. If the hourglass is full, the effect applies before the assault. Otherwise, it’s after. Now read the first part of the description to know how to trigger the effect, like for example some special effects trigger when you play Strike. Unlike damages, an attacking card’s effect isn’t cancelled by a Block (but it’s damage is). There is only one effect that cancel effects, it is the “cancel effect”. The targeted card loses its effect. That is all about the special effects for Tekken Card Tournament cards. There is a lot of effects and triggers. You’ll discover them while fighting.

Customizing the Deck

Each character has its own cards, with their own special effects, strengths and weaknesses. Some say that half a fight is won here, during the deck management. And nothing beats a deck that is built carefully by yourself, choosing your cards. Using the deck edit option, you can modify decks or create new ones. It’s also here where you decide which deck you will fight with. The deck you select is called the Active Deck. You can select a deck only if it’s eligible. On the Deck Editor Management screen, above are your cards of the deck and below are you collection, the cards you can add to your deck. On the upper corner, you can see a fraction like number with 2 cards logo along it, this indicates the number of Attack cards in your deck. You need exactly 15 cards for the deck to be eligible. The other counter with the energy logo, indicates your deck’s Power Card. You may have 0 or 1, never more.

Power cards are special cards for veterans. They increase starting HP and may come with a special effect at the beginning of the game. From the Deck Editor Management screen, you can filter Attack and Power cards using the tab buttons. To add a card to your deck, just select it and press the “+” button. To do this, first remove a card from your deck to make a room then you can add your card.

To get new cards you can go to the shop, the second hand market, participate in the events and through battle rewards. Remember that, Fusion is a powerful tool to upgrade your card.

Tekken Card Tournament Characters

Here are the current Tekken characters available for you to use in the game. Take note that more characters may be added as the game gets regular updates. Read each of the character description to know who is the best character for you in Tekken Card Tournament.

Law

Strength – 4/5

Speed – 2/5

Special – 3/5

Law is a powerful all-rounder and a master of the counter-attack. Most of his hits cancel out his opponent’s effects, and very few have mastered this technique. If used well, it can be deadly.

Panda

Strength – 4/5

Speed – 1/5

Special – 4/5

Other than Paul, no one can match the devastating hits of Panda. She also has several powerful effects including her specialty, Protection.

Yoshimitsu

Strength – 2/5

Speed – 2/5

Special – 5/5

Yoshimitsu is a fearsome opponent, especially in matches with two players facing off. He is the only character capable of hiding his cards from his opponent. He has also mastered many unusual and destabilizing effects.

Xiaoyu

Strength – 0/5

Speed – 5/5

Special – 5/5

Xiaoyu is tricky to play and to balance. She is therefore better suited to experienced players. Her draw speed is unrivalled; no other player will beat her at this.

Nina

Strength – 3/5

Speed – 4/5

Special – 2/5

Nina can do it all: draw rapidly, heal herself and launch powerful attacks. Therefore, you can either play as a balanced character or choose to specialize in one area to take your opponent by surprise.

Lili

Strength – 3/5

Speed – 3/5

Special – 3/5

Lili is a formidable fighter but difficult to master. Her best moves are used when the opponent has lots of cards down on the table. It is a risky and dangerous game, but the rewards can be well worth it.

Kazuya

Strength – 4/5

Speed – 2/5

Special – 3/5

Kazuya is a very strong fighter. He has both powerful hits and impressive effects in his arsenal. His special skill is to increase his strength when injured, which means the more he losses HP, the more powerful he becomes. This can make for extremely tense fights that hardcore players will love.

Paul

Strength – 5/5

Speed – 1/5

Special – 3/5

Paul is a fighting machine. Although he rarely draws and has few spectacular effects, his hits are earth-shattering. Perfect for aggressive players who want to play as a tank. However, such power has a price: his cards can cut both ways.
